Islam is a False Religion

The good news about Islam is that it is monotheism. The adherents don't have to worry about being idolaters as they only worship one G-d.

The bad news is that the religion is based on lies and the ramblings of an illiterate man whose thoughts were then filtered by various caliphs. Just as Chrstianity had Paul who was the real founder of that religion, so the Muslims have the various caliphs.

Torah commandments also for gentiles? Christians, explain this...

We have had an uncountable number of Christians come to this site and work from the assumption that the Torah commandments were given not just to Israel, but to all of mankind. We have shown in numerous ways that this is not the case, however this misperception continues amongst them. Inherent in this belief is a rejection of the notion that there was also a set of laws for gentiles. How do Christians who operate under this assumption explain passages such as II Kings 5?

I've been glancing through their site, specifically on their pointers on how to witness to Jews. Whew...

Anyway, they have a table where they list important messianic passages and they provide two columns, one for OT and NT verses that are supposed to show how it was fulfilled.

It looks like many of these have been addressed on this site in numerous ways. But the information is scattered. Prof Uri has written excellent papers on many of them.

I have been an onlooker in a debate between xians about certain aspects of their "hell." Hi guys,

I was reading my newly ordered copy of the excellent Judaica Press Translation and commentary anthology of 1st Kings, when I read about Solomon reportedly being twelve when he was coronated King. Later in 1Kings 14 verse 21 it states that Rehoboam was 41 years of age when he became king. That would make Solomon 10 or 11 when he had his son, would it not? Is there any information on how young he was when Rehoboam was born? Perhaps the commentary is just speculation on...

First, I agree with the Jewish translation and understanding of the subject verse. From the Hebrew, I can see where it says something close to the following: "Therefore the L-rd will, Himself, give you a sign: Here (behold)! The young woman is pregnant and she's going to give birth to a son; and you (directed to the woman) will name him Imanu'el." I will say I wonder about the verb 'qarat' being the you (feminine) and not the you masculine - which would mean...

Dead Sea Scrolls

I read somewhere in a "Hope for the World" paper that the Dead Sea Scrolls confirms Isaiah 61:1 and talks of the "raising of the dead" in reference to a quote in Luke.

It goes on to say that the 4Q521 Scroll says "when He comes, He will heal the sick, resurrect the dead and to the poor, announce the gospel".

Now I know what the Hebrew bible says, but does anyone know about the referenced scroll?

Believing in Moses as a prophet of God

My question is related to the Jewish belief that Jews know Moses is a prophet because of the mount Sinai event, where all the Israelites heard God (revelation to all Israelites).

The tri-question (one theme) is this:

1. on what basis were the Israelites supposed to believe in Moses when they were still in Egypt? (way before Sinai)
