In the Christian bible, they make it seem as if the Hebrew bible tells us to hate our enemies. Specifically Matthew 5:43 where it says - "You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighborand hate your enemy.’ (NIV).
This seems to be another flat out scripture twisting because I cannot find anywhere in the Hebrew bible where this is stated. As a matter of fact, there are many places where we are instructed on how to treat our enemies humanely, even their animals.
So where does the Christian bible get this concept of "it was said to hate your enemy"? Was it written anywhere in any other Jewish literature of the time?
