Dougg,

1. We are told in Daniel 9 that the 1st annointed one is to give the word to rebuild Jerusalem. That's it. Other scripture proves that Cyrus gave this word. Josephus confirms it historically. Why is it that Cyrus must be excluded as the 1st Messiah who comes exactly 7 weeks after the destruction? It's a perfect fit.

2. You don't believe it's a 490 year prophecy if you separate the 69th and 70th weeks as you are doing by more than 2000 years. This makes it > 2500 years rather than 490 years for you.

3. You admit that Daniel 9:24 has not been fulfilled yet? If so, I commend you and I agree, as there's no proof of this happening.

"...to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy"

Many other christians say Jesus fulfilled this already. I think it's honest of you to admit the above hasn't been fulfilled.

4. Are you saying that the Temple's destruction in 9:26 is not part of the 70 weeks or 490 years?

5. You don't believe the Jews will ever be righteous to bring in all the promises of 9:24, but God disagrees. Read Deut 30:1-10. It will happen. And not until that happens will the Messiah come.

6. Did you know that we see 9:27 as having already been fulfilled? Even the gospels talk about this abomination of desolation as happening in THOSE days 2000 years ago, not now or at some time in the near future.
