Hi shmelke, Dougg, the KJV never says there is a building process of 7 weeks. You and Dr. Brown argue as if it does, but that is simply not true. Look back at the KJV translation and you will see.

The two issues that Daniel prayed about (1) the rebuilding of Jerusalem, highlighted in yellow, and (2) the shortcoming of the Jews to keep God's commandments, highlighted in turquoise - which in our view is dealt with by the advent of the messiah as saviour. When I read the KJV this is how I read it accordingly.

9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: (pause, according to the colon, in effect a weak period grammatically speaking) the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

So in response to your statement, the verse itself indicates a seven weeks rebuilding period of the city. The rebuilding of the city was one issue that Daniel prayed about. But when the angel gave the answer to Daniel prayer - the impetus was messiah focused, because rebuilding of the city would not - to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

There is no other Bible passage that I know of that defines the 7 week rebuilding, restoration period, in specific length of time to accomplish that task, if that is your point, because that issue is secondary to the coming of the messiah. Please keep in mind that we consider Daniel 2, Daniel 7, Daniel 8, Daniel 9, Daniel 11, Daniel 12 - all ending with the coming of the messiah - Jesus's second coming in our view.

Peace,

Doug L.
