Shmelke, I was thinking out loud with you guys.

I cannot say "must be mentioned".

All I'm saying is that I find it VERY hard to believe that he's not mentioned. That Cyrus for example is but Jesus Christ is not.

That's all.

I understand why it is hard for you to believe. Your life revolves around yehsu, the GT, and the belief that it is the fulfillment of the Torah.

However, from a Jewish POV yeshu and his religion are no different than any religions that surrounded Israel, which were false for them. The name of the god and the name of the religion, and the name of the nations may change, but the Jewish obligation not to be enticed to follow them remains. Cyrus decreed the rebuilding of Jerusalem, and the rebuilding of the Jewish Holy Temple.

Mention of Cyrus was the light at the end of the tunnel. The word from G-d at the time was that exile was coming, but the prophets made it clear that the covenant would never cease, and that after this time of exile the Jewish people would be gathered back, and the Temple rebuild. It was only for a time.

Cyrus was named as a mashiach of G-d, who would bring their Babylonian oppression to an end. His role was very important to Judaism at that time, and it is said that Cyrus would have even brought the coming of mashiach had he himself had the Temple and Jerusalem rebuilt rather than merely giving the returning Jews permission to do so themselves.
I asked for strength, and G-d gave difficulties to make me strong. I asked for wisdom, and G-d gave me problems to solve. I asked for prosperity, and G-d gave me brawn and brain to work. I asked for courage, and G-d gave me dangers to overcome. I asked for love, and G-d gave me troubled people to help. I asked for favors, and G-d gave me opportunities. I received nothing I wanted. I received everything I needed. My prayers were answered.
