Sophiee, good question. It only dawned on me this morning that I've actually posed two separate tasks here.

First, I am wanting (as I've said. Hmm. Again and again. Hmm.) to grasp the meaning of yod-shin-ayin as it would, indeed, have appeared to the likes of Noah and Hillel.

Second, I am (for better or worse) arguing that humanity does indeed need a savior, and cannot save itself -- from any of various kinds of situations. The recent mine cave-in in WVa is one example. And in short, HaShoah is another.

I could, and did, list several other 20th century events of like nature to HaShoah. Some folks for some reason won't attend to any but this one.

If as one poster has suggested, humanity has all the tools it needs to save itself from sin, what need then does humanity have for a savior? for God? If that "if" is so, I say, then God is quite useless.
