This is my answer to someone concerning the claim Rebbe was infallible. No doubt it will cause a firestorm but, oh well. :rollin

Not sure how to clarify it but I will try. I am not saying Rebbe was "any" human being. I am saying he was "a" human being. I am asking if it is ever correct to say that a human being was infallible? That would include Moses, Daniel and Rebbe. Xtianity says J'sus was infallible because they believe he was G-d. Could anyone be infallible if he were not a diety? This is the criticism lodged at xtianity and it is now a criticism lodged at Lubavitchers who say Rebbe was infallible.

It is one thing to say that one has sinned. This should not be said of any righteous person. However, it is another thing entirely to say one is infallible. It affirmatively attributes characteristics of HaShem to men. IMHO it is blasphemy.

Incidentally, to say one has committed no sin is different from saying he is infallible. To say he is infallible is to say he is incapable of committing error. This would include nonsinful errors and omissions as well as sinful ones. The only being capable of never erring and of never sinning is G-d.
