This might help shed some light on this issue. It is our family genealogy from King David up to the immigrant ancestors from Normandy to Britain. I am sharing it to show how this "fairy tale" of Jesus being married to Mary Magdalene developed. This genealogy was maintained by Jewish families in Rouen and elsewhere and by the governments of numerous countries. I am not asserting its accuracy but rather the simple fact that it exists and has been influencing nations in Europe for centuries.
Roger Duke (my ancestor) acquired the position of Sheriff of London in 1190 as a result of this pedigree. In that capacity he served as the judge in matters of dispute between the King Richard I and the citizens of Britain. Reportedly King Richard I, who was himself a descendant from King David via a maternal line, would not allow anyone to preside over these hearings except a male line descendant of King David. He would submit to no one else. Look carefully at Yeshua bar Joseph. It will explain the confusion over the marriage of Mary Magdalene.

Yeshua Bar Joseph was married to Mary Magdalene. They had three children
1. Jesus Justus of Rome
2. Joseph Bar Jesus of Rome
3. Tamar (married a Roman Senator named Paullus Maximus
In parts of France, Yeshua Bar Joseph was mistakenly confused with Jesus of Nazareth which led to the stories about Rennes le Chateau, the Priory of Sion etc. Apparently, the authors of Holy Blood Holy Grail seized upon this misconception and built their famous story which is now the story of the Da Vinci Code.
One of my partners for years tried to persuade me to write a book like DaVinci Code with this information. I didnt have much interest and I still dont.
