Rebecca,

This is really not the place to debate in detail NT theology.

But I will say that you are assuming what you are trying to prove - aka circular reasoning. There are other ways to interpret Hebrews 1 - 2 that revolve around the motif of the "original Adam" and "new Adam" well known in Paul's writings. Remember, the original Adam was made unblemished, b'tzelem Elokim, and is considered by the Midrashim to have been greater than the angels. He lost some of that status after his sin. Along that line of reasoning, if JC is the "new Adam" who attained the level the original Adam once possessed, then all of what Hebrews and Clement say of him - "faultless", "express image" of G-d, "becoming greater than the angels", etc. - makes perfect sense without any need to evoke Deity for JC here, much less a Trinity.

It is all explained very well at www.biblicalunitarian.com. Although I don't by any means endorse the soteriology, view of atonement, identity of Mashiach, etc. there, it is worth you Trinitarian Christians looking at the material there for it shows just how circular much of your reasoning about the NT and early church fathers truly is.
