Some philosophical and meditative input:

1.
Man, as the climax of creation, was created in the image of God. Man is supposed to reflect God, as the Word of God reflects God: Adam as the earthly expression of the Word of God. In a way Adam was the first and earthly incarnation of Gods Word.

God and His Word are inseparable: He is what He says, He does what He says, He says what He does: He is completely reliable, no inner dissociation, no contradictions. (Man often is not reliable: he speaks, but does nothing, he speaks with his mouth, but his heart is not in it, he says this but does that etc.). A human that is generated by and filled with the Word of God will fully reflect God through his humanity, as a pure image of God.

Man is known by his words/deeds. So God is known by His Word. But God is not a man: when God, who is Life and Light, speaks (expresses Himself in words and deeds that are one) than this expression is Life and Light. God, Life Himself, cannot but generate life: that is in His Nature: the Word He speaks is necessarily Life and Life-giving as God is always life-giving.
Everything in creation is oriented and driven towards life: this reflects the nature of God who is life. Man as the image of God is also an earthly lifegiving being, reflection of God.

So:
God spoke His word, as the creed says 'before all times': He generated His Word ('born not created'), the expression of His divine Being: light of light, life of life, God of God.

2.
'Three', the number of overflowing and divine perfection in Scripture:

Quote:
@Num.6:
23. Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying: This is how you shall bless the children of Israel, saying to them:
24."May the Lord bless you and watch over you.
25. May the Lord cause His countenance to shine to you and favor you.
26. May the Lord raise His countenance toward you and grant you peace."
27. They shall bestow My Name upon the children of Israel, so that I will bless them.

A threefold blessing.

Quote:
@Gen.18:
1And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre, as he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day.
2 And he lifted up his eyes and looked, and lo, three men stood by him. And when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground
3 and said, "My lord, if now I have found favor in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant.
4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet and rest yourselves under the tree;
5 and I will fetch a morsel of bread and comfort ye your hearts. After that ye shall pass on, for therefor are ye come to your servant." And they said, "So do, as thou hast said."

I'm not saying the three men 'are God'; I point to the fact that the LORD appeared unto Abraham, and then Abraham looked up and saw three men. The three men somehow represented the LORD.

Quote:
@Ex.3:
15. And God said further to Moses, "So shall you say to the children of Israel, 'The Lord God of your forefathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is My name forever, and this is how I should be mentioned in every generation.

I don't say this is to be read as indicating triunity or three gods; I only give this as an example of the connection between the One God and 'three' as a divine perfection.

Quote:
@Ex.34:
5. And the Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and He called out in the name of the Lord.
6. And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed: LORD, LORD, GOD, Who is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness and truth,
7. preserving loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and rebellion and sin; yet He does not completely clear [of sin] He visits the iniquity of parents on children and children's children, to the third and fourth generations."

God calls His own One and Only Name, and He says: LORD, LORD, GOD...
Again: I'm not saying this is 'trinity'; I say: the Name is presented with the number of divine perfection 'three'.

God is One=1? What does this mean? Is God one 'personality', one Person? God's capacity for attention is infinite: He can give His full personal attention to you and me (and many others) at the same time. Is He multi-personal, yet one Person? What kind of Person is He than?
Man is made in the image of God. Is the whole of mankind more and more coming near to the image of who God is?

Is He a mystery or what...? :)
