Aad, Tertullian (early 3rd century CE) cointed the term trinitas but there is no proof that he used the term to speak of the modern concept of the trinity. Read what he wrote -- he says G-d wasn't always "the Father" -- in other words he doesn't support the modern concept of the trinity.

Quote:
"For from the moment when those things began to exist, over which the power of a L-rd was to act, G-d, by the accession of that power, both became L-rd and received the name thereof. Because G-d is in like manner a Father, and He is also a Judge; but He has not always been Father and Judge, merely on the ground of His having always been G-d. For He could not have been the Father previous to the Son, nor a Judge previous to sin. There was, however, a time when neither sin existed with Him, nor the Son; the former of which was to constitute the L-rd a Judge, and the latter a Father." [Tertullian, Against Hermogenes

And apparently the father isn't the same as Jsus:

Quote:
"For the Father is the entire substance, but the Son is a derivation and portion of the whole, as He Himself acknowledges: "My Father is greater than I." [T]he Paraclete [is] distinct from Himself, even as we say that the Son is also distinct from the Father; so that He showed a third degree in the Paraclete, as we believe the second degree is in the Son, by reason of the order observed in the Economy." [Tertullian, Against Praxeas
