Hi Chaim, Where am I wrong? Was idolatry accepted and "okay" for about 300 years after Jesus since no one was seemingly capable of articulating the correct trinity formula so that the masses could correctly worship God?

You are wrong by not accepting that the essence of the trinity is inseparable from Christianity, that essence which is found in the gospels and the other books of the nt.

The councils were necessary because there were heretical teachings being brought into Christianity during those early years. Those councils were for defending the trinity, the essence of which had always been, still is, and for ever will be in the four gospels and other books of the nt, against heretical teachings, and also in the ot, as well.

We disagree and that is about as far as we are going to get, IMHO, until after Judaism's moshiach shows up....
the day and time of reckoning.

Sincerely,

Doug L.
