Thomas,

Not a bad response, actually, but I question this from you:

He (a Jew) is going to be called on the carpet for not obeying Moses and for holding to traditions of men that teach him that repentance and good works effect his atonement, when all the Tanach says is that those who repent and do good works receive atonement.

What does that mean? Is repentance and good works a teaching of man or is it what the Tanakh says, or both? What's your point?

When you read Ezekiel 33:10-20, written within the context of exile, do you not see repentance and good works affecting atonement? Or do you see a teaching of man there?

Also, if Jesus is a prophet telling us about a god our fathers never knew, that makes him a false prophet. Any way it's sliced, the Jews never knew from Moses' time onward of a Trinitarian god who was voted in around 300 years after Jesus. Why else do you think God would have commanded us to reject foreign gods we never knew? This seems like a slam against Jesus worship. Maybe you should consider that this commandment that calls on us to reject foreign gods is a direct repudiation of the christian god. What other god has been forced and shoved down our throats worldwide besides Jesus these past 2000 years? Now think Jer 16:19-20. Looks like Christians lose in the end days and are quite clearly identified as the main historically idolatrous enemies (Amalek) of the Jewish nation mentioned in Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Zechariah. Who else truly fits the bill (being Israel's historically idolatrous tormentor) better than the Christian nation?

Thanks.
