Mark:
Again, you're putting the cart before the horse. The very first thing that has to happen is a recognition of sin, and the need for atonement. To believe that you can go boldly before the Throne without atonement is a terrible mistake (Leviticus 10).

Adding to Medini's comments on this, the fact is that there are many faithful Jews who recognize their sins (imagine that) as well as the need for atonement today in 2007 (can you believe it?). It's just that christians think Jews have it wrong.

It's Christians who have it wrong. First, they ignore what the Tanakh teaches about other forms of atonement besides sacrifice. Second, they believe the sacrifices can somehow be replaced by faith in a dead human being. Third, they believe that they're somehow atoned for due to their idolatrous, unrepentant ways - and further, teach that Jews can be the same way by no longer being required to keep the commandments (including the one about idolatry).

Mark, the issue is that Jews do indeed recognize the sin of idolatry (belief in the TRINITY) and know our Torah better than the christians do. It's because we're aware of what sin is and how atonement is made that we reject Jesus entirely. It is you who does not recognize the sin of idolatry, or recognize that the Tanakh teaches about other forms of atonement.

But having said that, I still believe God is sympathetic to those who sincerely seek Him - whether they're steeped in idolatry or not (better to not be, of course). I'm not so certain, however, that He is as sympathetic and kind to those who try to entice Jews away from the Torah and into idolatry and lawlessness.

Back to the topic at hand, .... right?
