But that wasn't the question. The question is would YOU drop belief in Jesus if it were proven to you that Jews never knew of a Trinity before the 3rd or 4th century.

You're really a master of questions; NO, I would not, because, though (I believe) the Trinity does have ground in the Tanach (signs and notions), the One Being of God has been revealed more fully with the coming of the messianic age. But my responsability does not lie in the spelling out of the Nature of God, but in the obedience towards His commandments.

It is however a legitimate question: what is the nature of God? I have to do some research, but there are early Jewish writings that portray some kind of trinitarianism. Jews were a part of the hellenist world and took part in all kind of debates in the beginning of (and before) our era.

Judaism has first claim on this. Christianity is but a "knock-off" from it.

On James 1; Of course Judaism has the first claim, it is a Word of God; I'm not sure what 'knock-off' means, but it (James 1 quote) surely is derived from the Tanach, as most of the teachings of the NT are; I don't argue about that. Truth is truth, where ever it is found.
