SMR, I just gave you an example where it happened with the Hebrew Bible, the belief that Adam and Eve sinned by eating an apple. I don't view this as a corruption of the Bible. Nothing has been injected into the Bible. A lot of has been injected into empty heads. When I was attending a Conservative Baptist Church (This is a denomination, not just a particular kind of Baptist church) the pastor read a survey result taken at that denomination's training seminary for pastors. I don't remember the exact numbers, but a sizable percentage of men attending the seminary, training to be Christian pastors, could not name more than two of the Ten Commandments.
"But what makes it more than fluff is the admittal that the supposed word of G-d had not only been altered, but made up completely."
If the archbishop admitted that in the article, please provide a reference.
"You can argue all you want whether it's in the GT or not. The fact that the Archbishop even addressed it is significant enough to show one of many misinterpretations between the various sects of xianity, much less than by the Jews. Bottom line is if it didn't happen, how can we believe any of it happened."
The popular details mentioned about the nativity as not true are NOT in the NT and never have been. It has nothing to do with my argument. It is a question of ignorance of the masses who do not read the Bible. It is NOT a question of misinterpretation between sects. There is no sect or denomination that would claim to believe those details. The wise men got into nativity scenes with the shepherds because they wanted to find a way to get more cute kids into the drama without making it two separate plays, which it should have been. There is no admission of any error in the NT story here, just an attempt to get ignorant Christians to stop propagating mythical inventions. I have been trying to do this for some time but the kids in the king outfits are just too cute, and "it doesn't really matter".
"GWB met with the Saudis today. Did anyone else notice?"
I did notice and agree 100% with the statements you made on this issue, except that you should know that this man whom you call a Christian has worshiped at a Shinto shrine and celebrated a Muslim holiday several times in the White House.
