Unless anyone can PROVE conclusively that Zechariah ben Berechiah did not die between the altar and the sanctuary then there's no basis for concluding Jesus (hence Matthew) had the wrong Zechariah.
The fact are that the author of GMatt made a mistake. You are trying to force "an argument from silence", which is a favorite tactic of evangelicals, but has absolutely no validity in biblical exegesis nor in a courtroom.

The fact that the Hebrew Bible does not provide the details about how Zechariah ben Berechiah died means that there was nothing unusual about it. Therefore, the logical conclusion is that he died like most other people die - a natural death. You are trying to force-fit a scenario described for another Zechariah to correct one of the many obvious error made by the author of GMatt. This is another example of an act of desperation.
