Posting this here rather than on a new thread, consistent with the apparent theme on this thread of questioning the historicity of alleged events attested to solely by Chrstian sources.

My first discomfort with the preacher at chapel last night began with his dichotomization of experience into "Chrst-centered" or "diabolical"; every single action, in his view, has to be either one or the other; good or bad, there being no "indifferent."  I recall having thought similarly for a while in high school, though that's now decades past both for myself and for this preacher.

Then came this: How many of you have ever witnessed the death of an unsaved person?  It's horrible!  This woman was in the hospital; I'd witnessed to her, prayed for her; her family were all saved, but she kept saying, "Jsus is like Santa Claus."  Then when she died, she was saying, "Get these demons off of me!  Get me out of these flames!"That gave me various additional reasons for discomfort.

Around the globe, on any given day, there must be a million individuals who witness the deaths of another million "unsaved" persons. The overwhelming majority wouldn't be able to tell you what "saved" or "unsaved" means. But Chrstian evangelists are the only ones who ever report witnessing events like this.
