The point in referencing Marcion is not to endorse any of his beliefs, but rather note the fact of his having referenced, prior to the third century, Paul's letters.

The text of the post I referenced begins, "This gentleman was Christianity's first great villain."  The fact that we regard him so does not change the fact of his having referred to Paul.
