It has also lately been proposed that Christianity began not with Jesus, but as a pre-common era cult of "chrest," which was wholly pagan but became Judaized, over what is supposed to have been a long time.  On the contrary, with or without Jesus, this Judaization must have been complete prior to Marcion; for it was his rejection of TaNaKh, the Bible of the movement at the time, that first sparked outrage.
Just as a reminder to casual readers, Marcion did not believe in a "human" Jesus Christ.  He believed in a "ghost" (non-human) Isu Chrestus.

He believed in two gods -- and he was against Judaism.   Sounds to me like a new religion mashing together ideas from various places -- primarily pagan.   The "fact" of Marcion that is important to note is that he did not know of a human Jesus and that his theology was very far from both Judaism and modern Christianity.

So how can anyone follow "Jesus" when no one knows if he was real (including Marcion), and the various early followers all had different theologies until the Council of Nicea when anyone who didn't "go along" was a heretic?   Come to think of it with over 10,000 iterations today Christians are still making it up as they go along --  including many of the modern ones who try to figure out who the "real" Jesus was and throw out 2000 years of the Church.

Let me state yet again that I could care less if there was a human or multiple humans at the base of Christianity.
