It isn't a burden as your words seem to say, but a gift.

Is it not, nonetheless, a "gift" most people seek to avoid?  To act completely as a free agent, not depending on intuition of "God's will" or on Jesus ... is something many if not most Christians never consider; and offhand it seems to me, this may spell a defect in traditional Christianity.
