Greetings,
Thanx ,respected UriYosef , ProfBenTziyyon
I did link the article not cause I'm fond of their arguments ... just to let you read fully their arguments....
anyway , let me ,plz, summarise the arguments
they argue that The Old Testament clearly presents the Holy Spirit as God, having all the attributes of Deity and personhood: :
1- The Holy Spirit is Called God:
"The Spirit of the LORD spoke through me; his word was on my tongue. The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me: ‘When one rules over men in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God.’" 2 Samuel 23:2-3
2- The Holy Spirit is the Creator :
"Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters." Genesis 1:2
"The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life." Job 33:4
3- The Holy Spirit is Omnipresent :
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, 'Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,' even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you." Psalm 139:7-12
4- author of prophecy:
We read in 2 Samuel 23:2, 3, "the Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and His word was in my tongue. The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God."
So we see that the three distinctly Divine works of creation, the impartation of life, and prophecy are ascribed to the Holy Spirit.
................
My Questions:
1- Is the life giving spirit ,the same as the holy spirit? If distinct , is such distinction based on textual support or mere assumption?
2- what is the nature of such life giving spirit? is it created or pre-existed? textual support ,if any plz.
3- Is the human soul that is breathed from God's spirit ,created or pre-existed?
4- How did the Jewish religious scholars in past and present view the matter?
Regards
