It seems to me God's presence in an untoward event is redemptive in itself.

I spoke about it with some zeal in a 2005 post entitled "Diaper Change."  My beliefs were considerably more "traditional" at that time than they are now.  My opponents insist on a "revealed-God" worldview that won't admit God's presence — as it were, perhaps won't permit God's presence — in ugly situations.
