Based on an article on the issue, the name "iesous" never appears originally in oldest Codex papyri, but rather what Sophie mentioned "nomina sacra", a form of initials or acronyms which the church interprets as referring to "iesous". Not shocked that obscure acronyms have been interpreted by Constantine's bishops, who took the liberty of "deciphering" their meaning and sharing their interpretation with their "faithful"?! SMH.
