I find it interesting that in a quick Internet search there is zero information about Shapira's personal history. There is no mention of WHERE in Israel he was raised, which Jewish schools he might have attended, the names of his parents, etc.

That is highly suspicious. If he had the stellar Jewish education he touts then why isn't it referenced???

In one brief "bio" he mentioned coming to America. I have very vague recollections of researching him once before. If he is the person I'm thinking of he came to America as a young teen -- so any "Jewish" education he had was as a child. This is similar to Michael Brown's story. Brown became a drug addict and thief as a young teen (thus turning his back on Judaism) and found "Jesus" in his late teens. Being born a Jew does not make one an expert on Judaism!

If I have time I'll try to do a bit more research on him. I think he has shown up on Rabbi Eli Cohen's Facebook pages now and again -- so you might search there, too. (Rabbi Cohen is with Jews for Judaism in Australia).
