When we speak of G-d's "Attributes" we are actually describing what G-d isn't, or of how He acts (rather than what He is).   As Uri pointed out in his last paragraph

We use words because that is all we have.  Words such as "attributes" or G-d's "outstretched arm" are used because we don't really have a way to describe the indescribable except for words!  Hashem is  completely simple.   That means, no characteristics, no qualities. If G-d had characteristics (attributes) then those characteristics would be the cause of Him, they would be what makes Him Him.   Nothing makes Him Him. That includes characteristics, qualities or attributes.
