Arikm7 may have turned away from what he received, but maybe Dr. Brown finds it much harder to do that.

I didn't "turn away"... it wasn't truth from the get-go.  I abandoned concepts which the Torah/G-d explicitly stated were idolatry.  That's not an opinion, that's fact per the Torah and it certainly is not a matter of "interpretation".   I was lucky enough to have discovered my own Neshamah.  Judaism was what I was supposed to embrace.  It's slightly insulting of you to suggest I "turned away".   I'm not saying that was your intention, but that's what it could possibly be interpreted as...another issue with "interpretation", if you will.

As for "Dr." Brown, supernatural experiences do NOT trump the Torah's explicit injunctions, nor are they to diminish the deception that "Dr." Brown engages in despite his allegedly being "filled" with the "spirit".   It is HE who "turned away" from the G-d of Israel to believe in apostasy and lies, all wrapped up with a supposed "supernatural experience" (your words) that we're supposed to just accept without the OUTGROWTH of that "experience".   Again EVERY religion claims "supernatural" experiences.  But these do not and cannot trump what G-d delineated to Israel via the Torah.

And as for "interpretation" or "understanding of Scripture" or what one "seems" to think about Scripture, the Torah again is extremely clear in its injunctions with regard to Idolatry (and this mystical nonsense is a form of idolatry as it seeks to put our attention on a god "your father knew not").  If it were merely a matter of interpretation, that would not be such a dangerous issue.  HOWEVER, "Dr." Brown repeatedly presents himself as a someone who is erudite in  JUDAISM, HEBREW and the HEBREW scriptures, all the while PURPOSELY twisting, contorting, misapplying and even CONTRIVING explanations and meanings and messages NOT found in any of the repositories of Judaism, INCLUDING the Hebrew Scriptures.  So this is NOT a matter of "understanding" the xian scriptures.  No, it is a purposeful,  INTENTIONAL contortion and deception to persuade/convince Jews of the "errors of their ways" and to ABANDON the G-d of their forefathers.   This from a former drug addict.  Or is this the true mark of one "filled with the spirit"?

When you examine the ACTIONS of those who claim a supernatural experience, you begin to see the truth.  And kudos to Gamah for reproducing those words from Deuteronomy/Devarim.  Again, the alleged supernatural cannot trump what the Torah clearly states.

So maybe in some weird way,  those of us who "turned away" from what we "received" have more courage and more tenacity in our Love of G-d than these supposed 'spirit filled" people who, rather than study, think of a way to dupe others with their own duplicity.  But they say we're in the wrong.
