Disregarding the inherent chutzpah of presuming that he "realizes that he is wrong",
I might have phrased that a little more nicely, but Brown has admitted to many errors along the way -- knowing that it amazes me that he doesn't in turn seek the truth -- particularly given D'varim / Deuteronomy 13!

Brown referenced "Ibn Crispin" as a great rabbinical source in one of his books.  On this very forum Brown admitted that he was wrong and stated he was going to make sure he changed his book to reflect this in the next edition.

R' Yisroel Blumenthal (of Jews for Judaism) called Brown out on a mistranslation (this is after Brown denied having any mistranslations in any of his books).  When shown clearly that he DID have a mistranslation Brown's response was that he:
"quoted the NIV’s translation of the verses, the version I generally used throughout the book. So, this is not a misquotation but simply the use of a standard translation."
A mistranslation is a mistranslation and many of the Christian translations have self-serving mistranslations which turn the Jewish bible upside down. Either Brown's knowledge of Hebrew is limited so that he did not know the translation was in error or he chose to ignore it -- either answer is unsatisfactory for a man who holds himself up as a scholar to teach Jews about Jesus.

Those are simply two -- so it isn't so much "chutzpah" as yet again factual information which some apparently disagree with.
