I am surprised that nobody else has yet pointed out that the Hebrew word נִסָּה nĭssah that the Tōrah uses (B'réshĭt 22:1) in connection with Avraham for “testing”, and the word נִסְיוֹנוֹת nĭssyōnōt that is used in the Talmŭd (e.g. in Avōt 5:3) for his ten “tests”, are intimately related to נֵס néss (a “miracle”).

Miracles, therefore, are directly connected through the actual language used with tests of faith.
