I use the word "average" quite scientifically, based on my conversations with countless Jewish friends and family members over the past 25 years.  Absolutely nobody has ever mentioned Hosea in this discussion. They just love being Jewish, and they know that means staying away from Jesus, and that's about all they know.

Mark, Your Jewish friends and family members may not have had enough of a Jewish education to know about what Hosea said; but I am sure they have heard about the horrible atrocities that Christians perpetrated in the name of Yeshu against Jews for the past 17 centuries.  In my opinion, that would be their main reason for their "staying away from Jesus".

Our raison d'être:

WHOSOEVER DESTROYS A SINGLE SOUL OF ISRAEL, SCRIPTURE IMPUTES [GUILT] TO HIM AS THOUGH HE HAD DESTROYED A COMPLETE WORLD; AND WHOSOEVER PRESERVES A SINGLE SOUL OF ISRAEL, SCRIPTURE ASCRIBES [MERIT] TO HIM AS THOUGH HE HAD PRESERVED A COMPLETE WORLD. (Babylonian Talmud, Tractate Sanhedrin, 37a)

The battle against spiritual terrorism is being won, one soul at a time!!!
