Uri:

I don't find her myopic/selective reading of biblical passages incredible. She's just a product of her xianity. After all, to most xians , the Holy Scriptures have been reduced to nothing more than Scriptural silly putty and Polemic Play Doh wherein they make it mean what they think it means but G-d forbid they read it in both unadulterated form and unmolested context.

The xian book of Romans plays with the Text you had referenced...see how Paul (in Romans 10)plays with the Holy Words of G-d:

Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: “The person who does these things will live by them.”a 6But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ”b (that is, to bring Christ down) 7“or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’ ”c (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”d

Notice he leaves out "that you may do it".  Heaven forbid you could find both G-d and a relationship with Him via the Torah!  (gasp!!).  Paul is very careful not to quote ANYTHING from the Tanakh in its original form!  If he did that, nobody would want to buy his latest schtick about Yoshke and would rather ask a REAL teacher of Torah about the real G-d of the Jewish People.

So it doesn't surprise me that when you present the unadulterated, clear and "Yoshke-free" words of the Torah to these missionizing xians, they suddenly have a comprehension problem.
