Rabbi Eli Cohen (head of Jews for Judaism in Australia) has received his copy of Shapira's book and has written a few posts about it on his Facebook page.   Yesterday he wrote:

I'm finding myself repulsed by the book "The Return of The Kosher Pig" (TROTKP) !

The author is schizophrenic in his appraisal of the rabbis and their writings.

In one place he writes about the rabbis
"I have grown to love the words of these precious men who loved God with all their hears and to the best of their knowledge".
Then in other places he writes
"it is important to conclude that the writers of the Talmud often contradict the words of Moses himself and provide Israel with twisted ways to enter the world to come"
Another quote
"let us look at a few examples of the false medicine that those who sit on the seat of Moses gave the Jewish people over the years"
Another quote
"The negative tone against the Holy Tanach is repeated multiple places within the Talmud"
Another quote
"Rashi explains, to our surprise, that reading of the Hebrew Scriptures is "not a good habit"
Another quote
"The Rambam, for example, expected King Messiah and then he contradicted himself..."
(BTW according to the author of TROTKP, The Rambam, Rashi together with numerous other rabbis are constantly contradicting themselves! It obviously never occurred to the author that perhaps the author doesn't have a clue what he's on about and that he has never received even the most elementary training in studying rabbinic texts!)

Another quote
"We can clearly state, therefore, that many of the Talmudic sages ..... have elected to go against the words of the Torah itself and the Prophets."
ARE YOU BANANAS ????

If you honestly believe that these rabbis "have elected to go against the words of the Torah" then WHY IN HEAVENS NAME would you "have grown to love the words of these precious men" ???!?!?!
