What have you got that counters 1 Samuel 10:17-19, that says the Children of Israel rejected G-d as king (implied in the verses)?. . .in 1Samuel10:17-19 it says that Israel rejected G-d as king

Dougg, context, context. Implied means nothing. Why ignore quotes that refute your implication? Why do you not quote:

Quote:
1 Samuel 9:17 "When Samuel saw Saul, HaShem spoke up to him, "This is the man whom I said to you, This one will rule over my people. He will save My people from the hand of the Philistines, for I have looked upon My people, for their cry has come to Me.""

G-d selected Samuel as king. G-d is the 'king of kings" but you seem to be confusing that with earthly kings. Who ruled Israel before Samuel? Does the name Joshua ring a bell? How about the various Judges? In other words there were always rulers -- and G-d had said there would be an earthly king.

Torah says:

Quote:
Deuteronomy 17:14 When you come to the land that G-d your Lord is giving you, so that you have occupied it and settled it, you will eventually say, 'We would like to appoint a king, just like all the nations around us.' 17:15 You must then appoint the king whom G-d your L-rd shall choose.

So why then when the Jews do what G-d said they would do (appoint a king) and they appointed the one G-d chose (Samuel) do you claim that he Jews rejected G-d?

The text in 1 Samuel 10:19 says the Jews rejected the elohim who saved them from adversity. Elohim can be used to speak of G-d but it is also used to speak of powerful judges.

Since judes were then ruling Israel why not translate it as "you rejected your judges who saved you from adversity?"

Yet again issues with translations and with ignoring context. Torah clearly tells us G-d chose Samuel to rule over Israel as king and even in Torah itself that G-d WILL appoint earthly kings for Israel.

Israel did NOT reject G-d by wanting a human king, but indeed fulfilled what G-d said we would do.

Selective reading out of context is my best guess.

As for Jsus doing something on the Mount of Olives next time around you have two problems:

1. He didn't do it PERIOD.

2. It has not hing to do with Jsus except for yet another broken prophecy in the GT that never happened.

Zechariah 14:4-5 tells us that G-d will be the one in charge. This is not about the messiah, Dougg. Zechariah is telling us that G-d will defeat the armies invading Israel. Read the next line (5)

Quote:
And HaShem, my G-d, will come

Dougg, lately your posts have been heavily proselytizing which is why a few have been deleted. This one is another example. Try to get your point across without the hellfire and brimstone. Phrase things in the form of a question not a declarative statement -- and remember that you are a gues in a Jewish forum
