Hi mbczion, If dying for something proves a faith to be "true", then the Muslims outdo us all....

None of the muslim made the night ride with Mohamed (of course because it never happened, but that is beside the point). The muslim martyrs are taught what they believe or read the account for themselves and/or a combination thereof. No direct experience with Mohamed.

Nor did Jesus's early disciples "make the night ride" with Jsus amongst the Jews.

Quote:
The disciples weren't taught by hearing or reading about Jesus, like we do to make a choice to believe or not - they experienced the resurrected Jesus right there with them and saw him ascend to heaven, after they thought their hopes that he was the messiah was dashed when Jesus was crucified. When they experienced the resurrected Jesus right there with them, they were changed, all of them, which is important, and went out and preached the gospel.

Assuming the disciples did really experience the above, this does NOT make Jsus Messiah, let alone L-rd, but that is besides the point. The bottom line is that the Muslims will claim that the early Muslims witnesses Mohammed rise to the sky on his horse (or whatever the Islam claim is), the Xtians will claim that Jsus's disciples witnesses him resurrect, while the Jews have the national revelation at Sinai, which was witnessed by a whole nation, NOT just a few disciples (as opposed to Jsus alleged resurrection or Mohammed's alleged ascent to the sky).

Again, a willingness to die for something does NOT make it true. How many Nazis were willing to die for German Nationalism because they believed what they read in Hitler's Mein Kampf to be true? And no, I am NOT comparing Xtianity to Nazism, but showing that believing in something with ALL your heart to the point of being ready to die for it, does NOT make it any more true.
