"So, Thomas, are you calling Jsus a fool for once saying that the testimony of one man is not enough, and then saying just the opposite later?

You are not looking for the "solution" in the words of Jsus any more than we are looking for an "aha" moment. We are simply looking for the truth -- are you?"

You may judge whether or not you are looking for the truth. However, what is very clear to me is that you have deliberately twisted my words. You can't seriously imagine that I was calling Jesus a fool. I referred to the well-known case in Proverbs, which instructs on how to deal with fools, as an EXAMPLE of the same words being used in two different senses. In the same way, the words of Jesus, "I bear witness of myself", were being used in two different senses. The first time, the words were in the context of the previous statement "I can do nothing of myself", so that they bear the connotation of making a statement completely alone, coming only from self, with no corroboration. In that case, the testimony would be considered false. In the second example in John 8, the same words are in the context of an accusation of the Pharisees that Jesus was not to be allowed to bear witness of himself. Jesus' response in the second case was to say that self-witness can be true if the person is speaking from experience with corroboration, and not just from his own self.
