MWD -- G-d gave us free will. This means that we make our own decisions. Evil spirits do not "descend" upon us -- that is just an excuse to avoid responsibility.

Take 1 Samuel 16 and 18 --- they aren't saying that Saul's body was suddenly inhabited by a poltergeist and that he lost his free will. Read in context it tells us that because Saul didn't follow G-d as he should have would make him sad. Think of it as a warning to "shape up."

Read in context it is obvious that Saul had fits of depression (wouldn't you given the circumstances?).

2 Kings 19:7 doesn't say an evil "spirit" spooked the king and he ran away from the ghost or demon. It says that G-d will send a (wind, breath, spirit, soul. . .) to the king that will make him HEAR a rumor and leave for home. Nary an evil demon in sight.

Same with "hardening of hearts." G-d merely gave Pharoah the backbone to do what he (with his free will) wanted to do. G-d does NOT take away our free will and ability to choose to do good or evil (Genesis 4:7 -- we can rise above evil which is the whole point of our existance).

MWD you are "pointing out quotes" that are from English not Hebrew. The quotes are misleading you to see ghots where there are none.

Sure there are melechs (messengers in human and angelic form) who bring people disaster and worse -- but it is up to us and our free will to act on evil or turn away from it. I hope you are enlightened by a clearer understanding.
