Hi Uri, Since, according the Christianity, yeshu is divine and part of the godhead,

- Why would G-d have to strengthen His own hand?
- If this were a reference to yeshu, and he was, according to Christianity, the first of all creations, why doesn't it say here that he was created instead of being formed?
- Did G-d form Himself?

You have a few problems to solve here, Doug.

First let me say that this is a discussion between two well meaning, though committed to their opposing beliefs, people.

There are no problems for me to solve. You misrepresented what the nt kjv says. The kjv doesn't say that Jesus was created. You can do a search on altavista for "first born of creation" for the Christian explanation.

Concerning the translation itself of Isaiah 42, the KJV and the LXX agree more with each other, than the text you use. So I am on solid ground there as well.

Moses wasn't our Messiah. So you admit here that neither was yeshu your messiah. The Hebrew Bible clearly points out that one of the missions of our promised Messiah is to bring peace to the world.

Moses wasn't your messiah, but God sent him into Egypt to free the Children of Israel from bondage. Moses was sent for a purpose, to set the captives free, like in Isaiah 42:6, who Christians say refers to Jesus, who, according to the nt, went into hell and set those captives free.

And Moses climbed the mountain to where God was to mediate on behalf of the Children of Israel who sinned and Moses broke the tablets that contained all of the law.

When Moses confronted the Children of Israel about their sin - did he give a sermon about them having the power to overcome sin recounting Cain's experience (Sophiee)? No, he did not. He said whoever is on the Lord's side... step over. And those who did not were killed. Then Moses climbed up the mountain to where God was and mediated on behalf of the Children of Israel that God would not destroy them. And because of Moses, God did not.

To point out the similitude between Moses and Jesus, Christianity is stepping over to the Lord's side (I am stating my opinion). Like Moses, Jesus did not give us a sermon about Cain (Sophiee). The nt says that Jesus is our mediator in heaven, ascending there, the heavenly mountain of God, the heavenly Zion, not the mountain that Moses climbed. But the stakes are higher, freedom not from physical bondage, as bad as that was for the Children of Israel, but from the bondage of the power of sin for the entire human race.

So you admit here that neither was yeshu your messiah

I don't recognize "yeshu" as being a legitimate name for Jesus. I am just going to say, Uri, that I am a Christian and will remain a Christian forever.

The Hebrew Bible clearly points out that one of the missions of our promised Messiah is to bring peace to the world.

Well, you had asked me past tense what had Jesus done regarding world peace, and I said "no". If the question were rephrased to the future I would have said "yes".

Peace,

Doug L.
