In 1993 (in the city of Dan) a monument was found that dates to a hundred years from his lifetime. The monument mentioned King David and his dynasty.

"Avraham Biran and his team of archaeologists found a remarkable in*****ion from the 9th century (B.C.E.) that refers both to the 'House of David' and to the 'King of Israel.' This is the first time that the name David has been found in any ancient in*****ion outside the Bible. That the in*****ion refers not simply to a 'David' but to the House of David, the dynasty of the great Israelite king, is even more remarkable" (March-April, 1994, p. 26).

More recently Eilat Mazar discovered a large building also dating from the time of David (10th century B.C.E.) that could have been the royal palace. One of the things found here is a bulla (seal) of Jehucal, son of Shelemiah, son of Shevi. He is mentioned twice in the Book of Jeremiah.
