Oh, I didn't take any insult. You are entitled to your opinion.

UriYosef can explain why (if) he thinks the comparison of fundamentalist Chrstians to religious Jews is inappropriate. I'll give you my 2 cents as to why I think they are on opposite ends of the spectrum.

1. Fundamentalist Xians "believe" in every word of the English translations (usually the KJV) as "literal."

This is how we get things like creationism where they have to ignore science and evolution because they can't fit the English word "day" into anything but one 24 hour period.

In other words, fundies try to ignore reality around them and revert back to middle age views of the world.

Contrast this with religious Judaism (including Nachmanides, Rambam, Rashi and other highly educated men) who take the approach that if we interpret Torah in some way and then our understanding of the world evolves then we need to take another look at Torah to see how we misnterpreted it earlier.

WE are fallible -- Torah is not.

Ergo evolution fits in beautifully with the story of creation (with one exception: Judaism teaches that there is a creator, not an accident). Einstein (who was not a religious Jew) also believed there was a creator.

So IMHO fundamentalist Xians are rigid to the point of ignoring reality while religious Jews don't say "believe" and do not question. Quite the opposite is true -- religious Jews study in depth and question every single word in the Torah. And we do it every single day.
