was it Hellenized Jews that combined paganism with Judaism? Or was it Gentiles?

Who knows? Odds are it was a combination -- some early Jews might have thought Jsus was the messiah, but didn't worship him. . .this brings to mind the Jerusalem Church who seems to have been along these lines. . .
And then along came Constantine and various Romans who added lots of paganism including virgin births, worshipping people, etc. And everything that Sarah tells you, listen to her voice. Genesis, 21:12 |

Scholars have been divided as to who was the founder of Christianity.
The fundamentalist/evangelical school of thought believes that Jesus was the founder of the Christian religion. Moderates believe that Paul was the one who was the originator of Christianity. This is based on the fact that the majority of the Christian Bible was written by Paul. Catholics tend to acribe Peter as the first Pope, and thus he was the "rock" upon which the Church was laid. Constantine's conversion is another suggestion. While I donot personally believe that the Emperor was the founder of the faith, I do believe that once he legalized it, and made it the state religion, it was able to flourish and grow. I also believe that he incorporated many pagans beliefs into Christianity (borrowed from pagan Roman practices) and he also used it as an instrument to implement pogroms against any and all who opposed the "gospel." |

Unless someone invents a time travel machine it's hard to even have an opinion.

I have a pretty good idea, and it wouldn't be Paul, John or even Jesus.

Our raison d'être:
WHOSOEVER DESTROYS A SINGLE SOUL OF ISRAEL, SCRIPTURE IMPUTES [GUILT] TO HIM AS THOUGH HE HAD DESTROYED A COMPLETE WORLD; AND WHOSOEVER PRESERVES A SINGLE SOUL OF ISRAEL, SCRIPTURE ASCRIBES [MERIT] TO HIM AS THOUGH HE HAD PRESERVED A COMPLETE WORLD. (Babylonian Talmud, Tractate Sanhedrin, 37a) The fruits of our effort: The battle against spiritual terrorism is being won, one soul at a time!!! |

UriYosef wrote:I don't know what you mean by ML(Martin Luther?). But the Greek Text had nothing to do with a new religion called Christianity, or Roman religion. And Stoicism was also not a big Greek philosophy either. It was more eastern semitc and affected Rome more. It is likely that Heraclitus who founded it was a Babylonian. Basicly, there is alot of digging in the wrong places. |
