- This thread will try to answer a couple of questions:
1) For the purposes of this forum, to what extent is it functional to be disrespectful to one's opponents?
2) The expression of disrespect can be pretty subtle -- what are the different ways that we express, or implie, disrespect?
- Starting with number 1, I'd argue that if there are times when being disrespectful would actually advance the purpose(s) of our forum, these would be so few and far between that we are best advised to always avoid the urge, whatever -- the overall results will be much better by using that guideline than they will by using a "sometimes it's ok" guideline. Being disrespectful is going to feel right much more often than it is going to be right.
