That's really great you provide a recording of your classes, btw. It's a great help. Thank you for that link. I'm excited. I took Prof Ben Tziyyon's signature thing he has written by his name that is in Hebrew. פרופ' מָרְדֳּכַי בֶּן-צִיּוֹן, יְרוּשָׁלַיִם, אֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל Here's my beginning translation. I have no idea what it means, but I think I have figured out how to sound it all out. It isn't. It is a kaf. Mordo CHAI. (A gutteral "ch" as if you were clearing your throat). Also בֶּן-צִיּוֹן The third letter from the right is not an ayin. It is a tsadie. So this would read "Ben Zion" or "son of Zion" Jewish names are first name, son (or daughter) of father or mother's name. Still, you did a remarkably good job. I didn't go through your entire post, but those two jumped out at me. FYI, here is a link to the aleph bet in both cursive and block and Rashi script, including pronunciation files to listen to. Although I have a lot of family in Israel (my great grandfather was in the first Aliyah) I haven't had the good fortune to visit Israel for many years. Remember, my initial objective is to teach the students to read the Hebrew language phonetically, and that is the reason I am going at such a slow pace with groups of only 4 or 5 letters at a time. Regarding your attempt at ProfBenTziyyon's signature, some letters are vocalized and others are not, and, at lesson #5 we had not yet reached most of the letters in it. I plan to start Module 5 this Monday (tomorrow), and Module 6 approximately 4-5 classes later. After Module 6 we will have completed the entire *Alef-Bet*, at which point in time you should be able to do much better than on your first attempt. Keep at it and you will do fine.
