Since everyone agrees that the "Old" Testament is G-d's word and not everyone agrees the "New" Testament is G-d's word than the
only logical conclusion is to read the first, knowing it is G-d's word, and to NOT read the second since it is suspect.
Why cloud your knowledge of a given with a doubt?

Because all the unintelligent positions have been taken. |

Why stop with the "new" testament? Why not read the Koran which came after it? Why not read the Book of Mormon?
Hey, why not write a whole new book proclaiming it as the word of G-d and make up your OWN religion? There is a very simple answer to "why only the T'nach" and it is found IN the T'nach. Do not add to the word that I am commanding you, and do not subtract from Deuteronomy 4:2A "new" testament by its very name is adding to (and subtracting from) Torah. Therefore it is trief -- not the word of G-d at all, but those of false prophets.
And everything that Sarah tells you, listen to her voice. Genesis, 21:12

Personally, When I read a book, I start at the beginning, and work my way to the end.
Ask your friend, has he/she read the first part of the book? Generally, in my experience, few if any have actually read the whole thing from cover to cover. As an answer to your question, G-d already said in his Torah what you should do regarding other claims to Divine Revelation: Deuteronomy Chapter 4 Tells you exactly what to do, and what your answer should be. As a further answer, David in Psalm 119 (yeah - its the longest chapter in the Tanakh), spends great time and effort explaining what the Torah is, and what he loves about it. Danny.
Deut 4:15, Deut 4:35-39, Num 23:19, Deut 24:16, Eze 37, Psa 119 - now go and read it...!

First, welcome to the real world.
It was not easy but you made it. Remarkable what a little thinking can do, yes? You'll be very happy to know that we are the one religion that says everyone else does NOT have to be like us. So being 50, non-Jewish and uncircumcised is fine. More than fine, it's GREAT! Second, fellowship with the Jews is very easy. Don't kill any of us. That's all we've been asking for the last 2000 years. If you're one of the non-Jews that doesn't want the Jews dead, YOU'RE IN! Third, and most important, the real relationship you want is with G-d, Himself. As you just shared, your greatest obstacle has been removed and you're now on your way. Granted, G-d did reveal Himself to us, and for the sake of all mankind, so we do have information you need. The relationship you need to have with us Jews is only a recognition that we are the resource for G-d's wisdom, will and expectations. G-d is not a masochist Who put us in this world to earn the next world or be punished and not tell us how to earn. He did. That's the OT, Only Testament! We say G-d spoke to us, the entire nation, and fixed an eternal covenant with us. Xtianity says G-d spoke to us, the entire nation, and fixed an eternal covenant with us and then changed his mind but only told one guy who fell off his donkey. Islam says G-d spoke to us, the entire nation, and fixed an eternal covenant with us and then changed his mind but only told one guy who fell off his donkey and then changed His mind again and only told one guy who woke up with a hangover. Again, it does not take too much off your "careful, objective reading" to realize A) these three stories can't co-exist and B) the only rational conclusion is that the first story is the genuine story. G-d is not whimsical nor flighty as to tell an entire nation of people what He wants and then 1500 years later whisper in ONE guys ear, "Psst, guess what...?" Nor is He so sadistic as to keep His will so hidden and mysterious that most the world will only be punished for their deeds. With all this I'm trying to underscore that paramount to your role as a non-Jew is to understand and appreciate that the Jews have the reference manuals for what G-d wants from the world. We have the information you need. That information is the 7 Noahide Laws. All non-Jews have the responsibility and opportunity of a personal, non-mediated relationship with G-d by following the 7 Noahide laws. We are Bnei Yisrael- Children of Israel [Jacob's name was changed to Israel] and non-Jews are Bnei Noah- Children of Noah. Singularly, Ben [son of] or bat [daughter of] Noah. I can go into a whole story about that but no one claims you need to be perfect by the end of the day. You're young, you can think, see what you can find out about the 7 Noahide laws and you can always come back with any questions. I will suggest a starting point [and not throw you to the multitude of voids free of charge in cyberspace]. http://www.asknoah.org/Academy.html

I hope I'm not out of line here, but.. It occured to me some time ago regarding the xtian text. Everything that is written in that text nowhere is it found
written ...and G-d said, this or that. In other words Nowhere in that text does G-d speak in any manner whatsoever. In Tanach, on the other hand, can anyone
Count the times where G-d is mentioned or even the times when G-d is speaking in one form or another. Therefore, shouldn't people follow the Book where G-d
is.
