Things are slower here then I95 in rush hour. You don't mind a fast question. We just had a fast day yesterday. I know a nother ones comin up. What were the names again? I keep drawin a blank. Thanx. |

It is that vacation time of the year.
When I ran a Shabbos weekend a number of years back and invited a few speakers to give the crowd a varied selection I told the Rabbis they were invited there for the crowd and the crowd was not there for them. If only 2 people attended a topic I was not going to muscle 15 people into their audience to make them feel good. I came up with that about 25 years ago and haven't forgotten it since. No one's here to keep me entertained or busy. I'm needed when I'm needed and when I'm not, I like vacations too. The name of the fast is actually not a name. That's probably why you couldn't come up with it. It's the date. Shiva Asar b'Tamuz- the 17th of Tamuz Coming up [or comin up, as you would say] is Tisha b'Av- the 9th of Av. This past one was a "minor" fast- from sunup to sundown. The next is a biggie. From sundown to sundown. [Approx 25 hours.] Starting around 8pm is great but ending at 9pm is a real bummer. Especially if it hits 90+ degrees again!
