I also counted five generations. I wrote:

From Nahshon there was Salmon then Boaz (who married the convert Ruth) then Obed and only then the father of David, Jesse, and finally Dovid HaMelech himself. . .So there are five generations (and I listed them ( From Nahshon there was Salmon then Boaz (who married the convert Ruth) then Obed and only then the father of David, Jesse, and finally Dovid HaMelech himself) -- but FROM Nashon (not counting him) there are FOUR. Is that clearer I hope?
