Mordochai: Because these are the very words that Yoséf foretold, on his deathbed, that God would use when the time came for Yisraél to be liberated from Egypt (B'réshιt 50:24, 50:25).

JD: Mordochai, neither verse 24 nor verse 25 say that God would "use these words" when the time came.
There's nothing about God "using" any expression. Nothing.

It says:

24. Joseph said to his brothers, "I am going to die; God will surely remember you and take you up out of this land to the land that He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob."
25. And Joseph adjured the children of Israel, saying, "God will surely remember you, and you shall take up my bones out of here."

Joseph told them that God will surely remember them.
Joseph did not tell them that God will "USE" these words.

Mordochai, by using the expression "USE these words" you try to make it sound like a secret code word.

I think you're reading way too much into this verse.

if someone tells you: "Mordochai, I will remember you and your family."

and after tres years he tells you: "I have remembered you and your family."

and he continues saying: "go tell your family that I talked to you, saying: 'i have remembered you and your family. and here's your million bucks!"

Joseph said that God will remember them, and God says: I have remembered you. as simple as that.

Joseph didn't say: God will use the words "remember you" and God didn't say in Exodus: tell the elders I "used the words" i have remembered you.


Mordochai: jodav, do you have the least idea what the three words pakod yif'kod et'chem actually mean? God tells Mosheh explicitly in Sh'mot 3:18 that "they WILL listen to you" − as soon as they hear that I have appeared to you and used the words "pakod pakad'ti et'chem".

JD: the verses do not say they will listen to Moses when they learn that God "used the words" pakod pakad'ti et'chem.

It says: 16. Go and assemble the elders of Israel, and say to them, 'The Lord God of your forefathers has appeared to me, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, "I have surely remembered you and what is being done to you in Egypt." ' And I said, 'I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt, to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivvites, and the Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey.'

Summary: Go tell them that "God has appeared to me saying A and Saying B, Saying C."

There's nothing about Moses telling the elders: "respected elders, God has talked to me and used the words "pakod pakad'ti et'chem".

All the verses say is: God has appeared to me, saying... and God said...

if this really were a "secret code word" i'd definitely have expected to read the verse the way YOU phrased it Mordachai. it would have said: "Tell them I have appeared to you and "used the words" pakod pakad'ti et'chem.

you're free to consider Genesis 50:24-25 as proof of the words being a secret code. to me, it's a baseless argument.
