When one deals with prophecy it is generally extremely easy to rebut a Xian argument by simply looking at context and the Hebrew. Something that seems more difficult to counter is Xian typography. This sort of logic goes all the back to the NT such as in the following verse:
Hebrews 11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
Ie. since Abraham had already received a promise from God that his seed would be reckoned through Jacob, he would
have had to raise Jacob from the dead if he killed him.
This type of logic is so difficult to rebut for:
1. If you believe in Jsus you're going to find as many prophetic types as you can wrap your mind around. If you dont believe in him you're not going to think twice at making these types.
2. It takes far reaching, fanciful, and abstract logic to make these connections, much like how they treat Isaiah 53. And abstractions are difficult, and perhaps sometimes impossible to contradict.
Here are some examples of typed an Xian might use:
1. Joseph: angered brothers, fathers of Israelites, with claims of royalty to the point they saught to kill him after his father sent him to see their welfare. He's thrown in a pit. Judah (Judas) tries to sell him. They try to cover his blood. Falsely tried. With two people, one he tells will live. Released, and his brothers don't recognize him the first time, but do the second time.
2. Serpent in the wilderness: Jsus even makes this comparison to himself. The people are going to die, but if they look to the serpent hanging on wood they will live.
3. Jacob: the Akeidah. G-d will provide a lamb.
