Hi everyone,
Just a question about the scrolls. Is it true about the scrolls verifying perhaps what is in a Catholic or Eastern Orthodox Bible. I believe they are based on the Septuagint. Which one I don't know for sure. In other words is there any truth to the claim that the apostles might have been quoting from it? Is Psalms 22 rendered as it is in most Chrstian translations in any of the scrolls? My point is that if this is true then I can understand the greek testament never lining up with the masoretic text. It does not mean of course that I agree with Chrstian beliefs or doctrine, however I notice that Greek Orthodox are quite different from evangelicals and they seem to share a few common beliefs with Judaism, such as that Daniel is already fulfilled, man is not born evil, etc.. Of course they mistakenly revere ikons of saints, Mary, and other beliefs. Just wondering if you can shed any light on this as they seem to accuse Jews of changing not only prophets and writings but actually Torah! I could not believe what I was hearing. Either way, I am willing to accept the truth, no matter where it leads me. G-d appears to have a covenant for everyone, Jew and Gentile. Is there any truth to the DSS agreeing more with the Septuagint than the masoretic text? If so, what is the response for Judaism to this truth or falsehood?
Thanks guys,
Tony
