I was wondering about its history.. if this text really represents the "correct" version of the Tanakh, were its prior copies burnt or buried somewhere and we haven't found them? I realize that the vowel points were added, so I'm not expecting to see them in prior texts. I realize the persecution in the past, and such scrolls could have been burnt, so if that's the explanation, I understand it.
Thanks for any help.
